In college have had the opportunity to work as a music instructor to a studio with over 20 students on a weekly basis. The students ranged in age from 5 to 70. This gave me a good perspective on how to directly connect with each student to ensure that we are exploring the best concept of learning for the individual. I have taught kids from ages 9 to fourteen, and am open to teaching anyone of any skill level. I also offer lessons in composition and recording/engineering music production. I encourage regular practice and make sure, especially for kids, that they leave every lesson with something new. I focus on learning how to be a successful musician all around, emphasizing on good technique, performance, and each student's individual sound. For beginning students, I typically start with materials from Mel Bay or Hal Leonard. Once a student has completed this, I begin to offer materials that are more specific to the musical genre that they have stated interest in. As a student progresses, I work to expose them to a variety of techniques with a focus on helping them to develop their own unique voice on their instrument.
