No matter whether one's goal is to be a professional musician, or one simply wants to try something new, almost everyone enjoys the act of music-making! Having said that, every individual is unique, and I work with each person to determine what works best for his or her desires and abilities. I consider the greatest and most rewarding aspect of teaching to be seeing and hearing a student gain the ability to play an instrument and thereby to become a musician. And I believe the only way to really accomplish this is to meet a student where they're at, become aware of their musical interests and goals, and to be a guiding voice that can help them work towards those goals in a more efficient way than they could on there own. I'm trying to put each student in touch with their inner creative. Everyone learns at a different pace and my approach is to teach something to mastery level rather than fill a quota. Inspiration and the joy of playing is first and foremost with my approach. By breaking difficult passages down into digestable pieces and making attainable goals, I find this keeps the student interested and builds confidence to overcome weaknesses. Read More
