For me, music is one of the most important parts of my life, and I do my very best to display that love of music through the world of percussion. For teaching I will start with basic technique and rudimentary skills needed to perform on a drum set. After mastery, I will start to incorporate other pieces of the drum/drum set into our lessons. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Basic Rudimentary movements. I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

After the student has figured out rudiments and rhythms, I would then move them to their respective instrument, and we would begin the basics on this instrument (Scales for Mallets, rolls and stroke types on snare drum, basic grooves on drumset), and the student can grow from there. From there it's really dependent on the student and their learning style/pace. I try to never create a particular "method" that doesn't allow for the student's uniqueness to be taken into consideration. Read More
