Hi everyone! I have been involved in performing and recording music my entire life, primarily as drummer and percussionist, but also as composer/ songwriter/ multi-instrumentalist. After eighteen years as director of the Enrichment Center Percussion Ensemble, I am devoting myself full time to music creation and private music instruction. My training has been both formal and informal, self-taught and others-taught, over the course of 4 decades of life. I have had many experiences in my pursuit of Music throughout the Eastern Seaboard. I have had professional singing experiences as well in a few varied genres, include Gospel, Spiritual and Classical musics. My professional training in Education has afforded me the luxury of teaching in a variety of educational settings ranging from Pre-School to Adult Continuing Education. To culminate my work experiences in Therapeutic Music as both a Recreation Specialist and Music Therapist, I completed one year of study at New York University and have plans to one day finish a program I started there. I have also maintained my skill at performance on Woodwinds and Classical guitar, which I enjoy especially having students to prepare for. For beginning students, I start with the Essential Elements book. If the student has already taken lessons or is in their school band/orchestra, I encourage moving onto the Rubank Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced method books depending on ability. Once a student has proven that they are able to handle it, I will start on solo repertoire. Particularly for college-bound musicians who wish to major in music, the majority of their lessons will be based on preparing solo literature for All District or college auditions. Read More

I'm trying to put each student in touch with their inner creative. Everyone learns at a different pace and my approach is to teach something to mastery level rather than fill a quota. Inspiration and the joy of playing is first and foremost with my approach. By breaking difficult passages down into digestable pieces and making attainable goals, I find this keeps the student interested and builds confidence to overcome weaknesses. Read More

My teaching experience goes back to the 12th grade, when I was the section leader of my high school marching band's percussion section. Although it was my first time ever teaching someone, I almost immediately developed a teaching strategy; I simply taught and guided that student exactly the way I would have wanted to be taught myself, with the uttemost care and attention to their individual needs as a percussion student, coupled with the tools to push them far past what they ever imagined they could achieve in music.
