My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as i began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and i have been consistently teaching students in-person and online for about 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. It is so important that each individual student progresses at his or her own ace. I encourage this progress by setting realistic and clear goals for my students at each lesson. When I acknowledge their accomplishments, it helps to fuel the desire to learn of the student and makes them eager to learn more. I created the Percussive Arts Institute of Ruston to bring music education to an underserved community and taught around 100 students in an after-school program.
