Depending on the instrument I’m teaching and the skill level of the student I’m usually going to start of with a 10 to 15 minute session of evaluation and assessment of needs acquired skills and students desires .we can then begin with exercising proper warm up posture and position .and run through warm up scales and learn rutiments or attack the desired skill requirements straight ahead depending on the students development.Music is an art and a discipline.it is a relationship one has with there instrument.my songs and instruments become like family ,well charrished!!!! In terms of younger students who are first discvovering their interest in music, it is important to develop a basic foundation of understanding in terms of reading, writing, and communication with other musicians through the application of time tested teaching methods forcing the student to apply what they have learned in weekly "missions." For children and other beginners, I would start our lessons by encoding the basic function of music theory application of a drum pad. This will allow stick control and muscle memory to begin developing. As the beginner becomes more of a novice, I will introduce simple and repetitive songs and go over them as whole pieces. i always love to see my students reach a goals on the lessons and i don't believe in "i can't do it", if you can dream it, you can see it, and if you can see it you can do it!. i always believe that the everybody can play an instrument if you say that is not for you, that is just a sign that you just need more practice that other people , i already teach a kid to play violin and also a grandma to sing and play guitar at the same time i think everything is posible you jus need practice over and over again until you make it.
