Overview:
Hello! I am a passionate, Miami based percussionist with a background in musical theatre. I can play all sorts of other instruments as well, such as piano however drum set and hand percussion and mallet percussion is my main set of instruments. I can teach guitar, JUST ASK! I was born and raised in Miami Florida. When a lesson is planned, I shall arrive on time and maintain a punctual attitude. I have a passion for education and the growth of new musicians!
EXPERIENCE
-Instructor in a conservatory
-Small ensembles with Miami Dade Community College.
-Wind symphony directed by Brian Neal. The next year, the same wind symphony was being conducted by a Ms. Barnes.

METHODS USED
For children and other beginners, I would start our lessons by encoding the basic function of music theory application of a drum pad. This will allow stick control and muscle memory to begin developing. As the beginner becomes more of a novice, I will introduce simple and repetitive songs and go over them as whole pieces. Those who are experienced in percussion, I will have them show me all of the rudiments they know, any complete pieces they have memorized, and have 5 minutes of improvisation. When I have seen the technique and the music style they are leaning towards, I will make a personal lesson plan and work closely to make their playing perfect. Students are not robots or cookie cutters, they are all different so expect a bit of a variation based on this individuality!
LESSON STYLE
Seeing a student take on a challenging piece is more rewarding to me than anything. When I see a student struggling, I will offer the techniques that I would typically use, however there is no ONE right way to do everything. I encourage independent learning and going beyond the lesson. IF A STUDENT ONLY IS PRACTICING WHILE IN THE LESSON, WE CANNOT ADVANCE AS QUICKLY AS I PLAN. This will result in repeating lessons, which I avoid at all costs. Nothing I teach is difficult. There are only difficult students who do not practice!
