I really feel it's important to contribute in the efforts of raising a smarter generation of children, and also understand adult's needs and passions to pursue the art of music. I find so much joy and excitement in witnessing a student's progression, or that moment when theyve been struggling with a rhythm or assignment, and it finally "clicks", and you witness it come together right in front of you. I love that! Read More

The methods have to suit the child and vice versa. I like to began all students by really getting to know their (and their parents') ability, history, desires, needs, wants, ect. I like to base my teaching pedagogy purely around the child, the family, and their learning skills. Everybody is different and it's my job to explore all avenues that the student wants to accomplish in their musical experience. I have taken classes and studied Kodaly, Suzuki, and various other psychological approaches to education. Read More

I use patience, clear communication, and having fun to get knowledge across to my students! To me music is about connection and expression, and my goal is to get my students to feel that! I also understand that learning new things can make you vulnerable and frustrated so I try to be more relatable as opposed to an authority figure with my students. However, if I see that a student is not respecting themselves and their goals (not practicing, discouraging behavior) I will be a bit more strict in order to motivate them. Read More

When teaching my students, my lessons are relaxed and informal, with a focus on building basic knowledge that will be applicable throughout the musical journey- however, I also pride myself in helping my students enjoy music as well, and have the capabilities to record their playing. This not only builds confidence but is an invaluable source of feedback that I find is often overlooked. As early as possible, I try to have my students play along to either a cover song or play along with me, in order to develop skills on the instrument that are practical, meaningful, and fun. My lessons are fun and interactive! A light-hearted approach to learning an instrument is very important. Especially considering the difficulty a stringed instrument can bring; it's very easy to become discouraged when met with a difficult instrument, in a lousy-not-fun lesson, with a grumpy instructor. I work to keep the air light and flexible. By flexible, I mean to say that if at any point my student feels disgruntled, then we adjust. Read More

I have been teaching music for 10 years. In that time I have taught in 3 major cities, or 2 continents both privately and through respected insitutions such as the Hollywood Academy of Music and Brooklyn Guitar School.During my most recent time in New York (over 2 years), I maintained a roster of 15-20 private weekly students, throughout the 5 boroughs.Working with different students from different backgrounds in multiple cities has greatly informed my teaching and stoked my passion for passing on my musical knowledge. I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further. Read More
