I have been teaching private lessons for about 15 years, as well as camps and workshops. I have served as a clinician and instructor at Drumline camps and with Orchestra. I created the Percussive Arts Institute of Ruston to bring music education to an underserved community and taught around 100 students in an after-school program. Most of my students study the fundamentals of piano and voice, and then Branch into either percussion, guitar, strings, or brass, as they develop their interests. Read More

I've also found that a combination of listening to modern music, and creating drum parts in the mind can go a long way in helping students enjoy the drums and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. If a student isn't learning in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students are encouraged to keep an open mind when it comes to various genres of music. I'm eager to bring on new students of all ages! Read More

I've been blessed with the opportunity to perform for many events over the span of the 9 years I have been playing the drums, including community events, musical theater, music competitions, restaurants, churches, varying venues, and even the Braves stadium. I'm a seasoned musician that is very motivated to share my knowledge with eager students. I focus mainly on cultivating musicianship as a whole instead of focusing on a single facet. I've been in a wide range of musical projects - choirs, a Capella groups, folk bands, rock bands, etc - and I assumed a leadership role in every single one. I've worked with an age range from 5 to 50 - no one is too young or old to appreciate the joy of performing music. Read More

While I do like to use method books and curriculum such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for Strings and Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course, I also recognize that every student is unique. That's why I work hard to get to know each of my students and figure out what their strengths and needs are. Then I can tailor a path that is personal to each student and keeps them excited and engaged while moving towards their individual goals. Read More

My passion for sharing knowledge begin during my time as high school tuba section leader, which led to Senior band president. Assisting my peers so we could sound better via musical corrections, this would build our confidence levels and the moral throughout the ensemble. I furthered my passion for music at Berklee College of Music, where I studied various aspects, methods, and approaches to educating someone about the art of music. Read More
