I believe the proper technique is essential in order to be a successful percussionist. We would start by how to hold the stick properly, whether it be matched grip or traditional grip. From there we would move on to how to properly hit the drum and bounce the stick. The first few lessons are usually all about technique and approach and we would mainly stay on one drum or surface, but after that we would move to the drumset or another area that interests the student. I can foresee that this ride will never end there may be ups and downs but its all part of the ride, and I have learned that the most crucial skill to have as a musician is to be able to enjoy every minute of it, to be in the moment, and to just do it. Nowadays, I still spend almost every waking moment either playing, studying, teaching or simply just thinking about what I could do to be a better musician. Read More

I was born in 1991 and started playing drums shortly after that. Growing up in Detroit Michigan I fell in love with sound and was exposed early to many different styles of music. Studying music from a early age I went on to attend Berklee College of Music on Scholarship where I received various awards and performed with many of my favorite musicians including George Garzone, Bob Gullotti, John Lockwood, Doug Johnson, Aaron Goldberg, Joanne Brackeen, and many more. I draw from a wealth of numerous musical resources. I believe in facilitating healthy technique as it is the foundation of the physical aspect of playing. I combine this with the theoretical essentials, learning scales, intervals, reading music, improvising and conceptualizing. I advocate these aspects subject to the needs of the student. Read More

I love seeing students develope a passion for music. I find that your teacher plays a big part in your development as a musician so the last thing I want to do is force a student to play something they cannot. Instead I create exercises that help them develope the skill neccesary to complete a certain goal. This helps the student build discipline in learning and dedication to reach a goal Read More
