I'm a very relatable and knowledgeable music instructor who uses innovative tactics to enhance my student's ability to learn and create awesome music. In 2003, I graduated from the prominent SUNY Music Conservatory of Schenectady County Community College with a heavy concentration on Piano and Vocal Performance. I also graduated in 2018 from LA Film School with a concetration in Music Production. Both experiences changed my life greatly and gave me even more knowledge and skill in teaching music to my students over the years. Read More

I like to use custom lesson plans. I evaluate the student's playing and ask what they want to improve on and/or want to learn. Based off of this, I might use rhythmic study exercises from Ted Reed's "Syncopation" or hand patterns from the book "Stick Control", playing on both a practice pad and the kit. I like to have students play a simple 8th note groove, backbeat on 2 & 4 and incorporate bass drum precision exercises, eventually using different hi hat patterns. Read More

I have a philosophy that playing music is a genuine demonstration of expression and feeling and I teach students to channel their own inspiration and passion into the basic principles of modern and non- modern music styles. My teaching style is geared mainly towards going over fundamentals while finding the students interest in music. I encourage my students to listen to as much music as possible, to explore and find what they really enjoy. Playing along to music,or learning songs the student enjoys is a great way to apply the fundamentals, and make them more enjoyable to master. Read More

Instruments: Drums

For beginning students typically start with Drum Set For Kids by Hal Leonard. In this book after playing lessons each one has a song to play along to with a recording. This makes learning this book fun for studemts. I also like to focus on hand technique and all of the basics for playing Drums. I do include teaching drum rudiments for they are very important to have. For a Drummer they are our dictionary that help puts phrases together. Read More

I like to teach with books but also with songs.  It's all about having fun! I have different routines and practice methods. The idea is to keep things positive and challenge free. Working with a metronome is a key factor for finding the right tempo to make sure that the student will feel comfortable while he or she is practicing the information. The idea is to break things down to a point where things are doable and super easy to deal with . Read More

I have been teaching part-time for the last 10 years, from my home studio, at music stores, and traveling to students homes. Cultivating a fun and engaging lesson environment is crucial to keeping my younger students active and interested in their musical studies. Also, setting goals and maintaining a regular practice routine are both paramount to every student's consistent development. I host periodic recitals, so that my students a performance experience and show off their new talents. Read More
