I first taught about 45 years ago when I was a teenager. Since then I have been helping people learn more about playing music on both a casual and professional basis. I strive to discover where the student is and what they want to accomplish. I also train students in Music Theory, reading and transcription because it is important that musicians are able to communicate with other players clearly. I teach students biased on my drum philosophy that encompass rudiments, groove, and 4 way coordination. From beginners to professionals we help drummers refine their technique, learn a variety of rudiments and how they apply those to fills and grooves, in addition to helping them to gain 4 way independence. In 2015-2016 I worked at Archimedean Middle Conservatory in Miami, FL teaching 6-8th grade general music. All students learned drum rudiments and call and response techniques. I also ran an after-school drum program where students learned more complex rudiments, rhythms, and how to play as a group. From 2013-2015 I taught at Keys Gate School where I ran a similar after-school drum program. From 2004 to now I have taught private drum lessons. Read More
