I've been teaching most of my adult life. I started tutoring while still in high school, and I continued as a teaching assistant as a college student. I taught at Hope College for six years in a number of different subjects: saxophone, jazz ensembles, music theory, aural skills, piano class, and music appreciation. I attended school at Valley Head High School in Valley Head, Alabama and attended college at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I have performed all over the country, and my musical arrangements, compositions, and marching drill design have been performed all over the world. Music has been my life for almost 20 years, and I wouldn't trade any of my experiences in performance for anything in this world! I think my folks realized I was serious, so they bought a little Woolworth's "kiddie" kit and set up drum lessons when I was about 7 and learned to read and write jazz and rock music with my instructor until I was 16. I first taught about 45 years ago when I was a teenager. Since then I have been helping people learn more about playing music on both a casual and professional basis. I strive to discover where the student is and what they want to accomplish.
