Evan Michael H. brings over 30 years of drumming experience to teaching you or your child the percussion fundamentals, from simple rolls and rhythms to more advanced techniques. Evan’s students learn how to drum along with their favorite songs in just the first few lessons. You’ll also learn how to drum with a band and participate in creating music. As a member of the Total Drummer drum teaching program, I have access to enormous libraries of teaching material, including the main syllabus, famous song charts, drumless play-along tracks, and everything else my students may need. My love for music started when I was 13 and I started playing drums. I soon got in a band and was enlisted by default as the bass player. I fell in love with the instrument and dedicated my life to becoming a professional musician. When I was 18 I moved to Boston to pursue a degree at Berklee College of Music where I graduated in 2017. Throughout the years I have had extensive performing and recording experience, having toured all over the US and Italy and recorded a few albums along the way. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my time in college as I spent many hours working with high-school marching bands and giving individual lessons on drum set and battery percussion. Once I moved to Los Angeles, the focus of my teaching switched to private lessons in students homes and rented studio spaces. After graduating from the Los Angeles College of Music, I was asked back as a substitute to teach their sight reading classes, to assist in styles classes such as Rock and Jazz, and as an assistant running the console in their "Recording for Musicians" class. Depending on the students' improvement, I work performance with harder songs and books. Reading is also a key aspect on my lessons. I also teach advanced double bass drumming for those who are interested. * For hobby drummers: I don't push that hard on technique and reading, but it's there. Minimal technique is important so you can have fun instead of struggling with the sticks and the kit. Also a song based system. Read More
