I am a relaxed and easy-going teacher. I am good at staying focused but also fun to be around! I know that learning to play an instrument carries a unique set of challenges for each person, and these can be frustrating. Because I've experienced these challenges myself, my primary goal is to be there for my students, guiding them through the difficult moments as well as the joyful. I care about the student's progress more than sticking to a pre-determined rule book. Read More

I have a focus on rock and metal drums however can play and teach most styles. I believe drums need to be fun for a student to really enjoy playing and progressing, I can remember being a beginner and first "unlocking" independence between my hands and feet. I do believe the key is just to practice and find joy in that. Drums are one thing in life you can trick yourself into having fun exercising both body and mind as well as having something to be able to progress at, the only way to get better is to play, and playing is fun! I am passionate about continuing the education of music in our society. In spring 2014 I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a BM. I’ve performed with churches, college Rock and Jazz ensembles, and recorded for several local groups. I enjoy Jazz, Latin, and World music. Students will find that I am a delightful person to be with. The joy of teaching, for me, is watching students grow in their abilities. Read More

I enjoy giving my students control over their own learning process at times. This means that I will sometimes provide them choices within the context of what I am trying to teach them. I also make lessons fun by performing duets with students to take a break from the daily material. I also emphasize site-reading in every lesson to develop this much-neglected skill. All of these techniques are designed to keep the student mentally engaged because it is only then that they will truly be learning as much as possible. Read More

I like to start each student off with the fundamentals and rudiments. I think the fundamentals are very important for every musician. Once you master the basics, then we can move on the solo repertoire, or start to develop each musicians individual style. I want the lessons to be both fun and engaging. So it’s important to find what kind of music each student is interested in and then develop that interest and passion. Read More
