I have been playing drums for over 13 years, and have been in numerous projects in a range of genres in recent years, even including some contributions to a film score. Growing up in a family of musicians and teachers, a love for music and music education is baked into my heart. I am versatile and passionate percussionist and drummer who has extensive experience with all percussion instruments and styles. I graduated from California State University Northridge with Bachelors and Masters degrees in percussion performance. I have toured to multiple locations in the United States in addition to performing in several amazing venues such as Chicago Symphony Hall, The Valley Performing Arts Center, and Royce Hall. I began teaching about three years ago. I mostly have taught younger students, and I love to watch them learn and develop a passion for music. I like to look for fun ways to keep students motivated. I like to use lots of humor while I teach because I think learning should be fun, and music is an amazing art. I’ve performed with churches, college Rock and Jazz ensembles, and recorded for several local groups. I enjoy Jazz, Latin, and World music. I teach using a set of core principals which allows my students to gain control and understanding of the fundamentals of drumming, and more importantly, music. I work with my students to create short and long term goals, and I construct specific lessons based on these goals. Corey has taught and directed music and theatre for youth for over 15 years. Corey was born and raised in southern Oregon where he spent his youth performing live music and theatre on stages like the Ross Ragland Theatre, The Linkville Playhouse, Oregon Stage Works, and Oregon Shakespeare Festival. He has been playing the guitar and drums, as well as acting and directing, since he was 12 years old. As a teenager he created Klamath Teen Theatre in Klamath Falls, Oregon and was also guest teaching after-school programs for local elementary and middle schools. Read More
