Hi everyone! I have been involved in performing and recording music my entire life, primarily as drummer and percussionist, but also as composer/ songwriter/ multi-instrumentalist. After eighteen years as director of the Enrichment Center Percussion Ensemble, I am devoting myself full time to music creation and private music instruction. From there, I began teaching as the percussion instructor at the same school during the beginning of my freshman year of college, lasting for the next 7 years after that. I'd also like to add that one of my former students from the same school is now the percussion instructor there. During my 7-year tenure there, I also taught as percussion instructor at many other high schools, middle schools and even a music conservatory, which was definitely the highlight of my teaching career so far. I have been teaching oof and on for the last 20 years. I have been playing professionally for the last 27 years. I played in my high school marching band and in the symphonic orchestra. I studied under Tony Casselli and Tom Tehdran. I've been in a variety of bands from dinner/oldies bands to rock. My current studio has two drum sets and a DW practice pad set. For beginning students, I start with the Essential Elements book. If the student has already taken lessons or is in their school band/orchestra, I encourage moving onto the Rubank Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced method books depending on ability. Once a student has proven that they are able to handle it, I will start on solo repertoire. Particularly for college-bound musicians who wish to major in music, the majority of their lessons will be based on preparing solo literature for All District or college auditions. Read More
