Goals are always tailored to individual student interests. I like to assign practice homework, which is a mix of technical exercises and song-based learning using student-preferred music. I love to watch students peel back the layers of the onion and discover how their favorite artists make music, from learning common chord progressions to transcribing solos note-for-note to imitating playing styles. Weekly lessons keep students active and involved in their drumming education, while assigned practice exercises promote gradual but steady improvement. Assigned practice exercises are designed to improve rudiment execution, hand and foot technique, and musical sensibility.
