I have been teaching clarinet since 2013. I love teaching all ages, including adults! Music making is a lifelong joy. My K-12 students in the past have been accepted to performing arts high schools, college music programs, All-State bands, All-County bands, youth orchestras, and earned superior ratings at Solo & Ensemble festivals. But way more importantly, my students have fun learning clarinet! Music is for lifelong enjoyment, and I hope that my students continue on in exploring the wide word of clarinet. Read More

I love to see students succeed. Yet they deserve to be challenged appropriately, they should be proud of their progress and still have fun. So I learn the students style of learning and pace then adjust the approach and music I will have for them. I constantly acknowledge any and all improvements , and welcome mistakes. I truly want the student to think about every decision they make, so they can properly train their subconscious in the right way. Read More

For students who are just starting out, I start with basic finger and breath support exercises. Once these become ingrained in the student's mind, I will introduce various excerpts based on their skill level, eventually working our way into solo repertoire. For students that have a few years under their belt, I prefer to get a grasp on what their strength and weaknesses are to assess what I can be of service, to select the solo or excerpt book that would best help improve their already developing talents. Music is a big part of everything that I do. I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1992. I have performed in ensembles, for weddings and special events, and provided accompaniment services to other musicians. I enjoy the complexity and challenges of classical music the most, but I also enjoy the experiences of playing music that makes me feel good. Whether it's music for church, school, accompanying for soloists in competitions or just making music for fun, I love what I do! Read More
