I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. After graduating college I begin to travel around the world performing music as well as performing here in New York leading a Jazz quartet and playing with many other groups performing many different styles of music. Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet

My teaching style is focused on playing as much as possible and encouraging good practice habits. The most important thing I can do as a teacher is teach my students good practice habits! This includes showing students not only WHAT to practice, but HOW to practice it. By spending as much time as possible in the lesson playing together, I have found that my students have more fun playing in the lesson, learn more, and in turn practice more during the week! My teaching method is different for every student based on age, level, and their musical goals. However, the two things that I try to keep consistent among all of my students is a solid technical foundation and curiosity for different musical styles. For beginners, I typically start with the Rubank Beginner or Intermediate method book. Once the student has progressed to grasp the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce etudes and solo repertoire along with any pop or jazz songs they might want to learn. Read More

My teaching style is to get students motivated with fun components of lesson materials. Sometimes, I recommend material to watch and listen for getting ideas how to master instruments because it's important to know great examples of pro-instrumentalists as much as possible. Playing instruments have to be fun whichever materials they are working on, but there is on and off physically and mentally. I teach you how to get better continuing to have fun practicing and get improved on songs they want to be able to perform. Read More

In my teaching approach, I cater to both beginners and advanced students, recognizing that each stage of musical development has its unique needs. For beginners, I focus on building a strong foundation in technique. We delve into the fundamentals of the instrument, ensuring a solid grasp of essential skills. But it's not all about drills and exercises; I introduce these concepts in a manner, making learning enjoyable and accessible. For advanced students, our journey takes on a different flavor. This, too, varies based on the individual student. I pride myself on my flexibility, and always try to run my lessons based on what best fits the student's personality and learning style. I always, however, provide a thorough and comprehensive music educationI want my students to understand the music they're learning, not just learn how to play their instrument. And most importantly, I strive to maintain a patient, encouraging learning environment. Read More

For beginning students, I like to start them on the Hal Leonard Essential Elements. I believe it moves at the proper pacing for young children. For intermediate students, Accent on Achievement works well because I find the music is more challenging. Also I require older students to know scales, primarily Bb, Eb, and F major being that they are the easiest to learn. It is from there that I gradually add a new scale (one every few weeks) until ultimately all 12 major scales are learned. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
