When I first meet with a student, I usually try to get a sense of their ability level, goals, and the styles of music they enjoy. Since everyone is unique, I tailor my lesson plans to each individual. I can help with planning a practice routine, and with selecting music that is interesting, fun, and hopefully a bit challenging (because thats how we improve)! I will recommend method books, and music books, and write a clear practice schedule at every lesson, and will look for ways to keep my students motivated. Read More

I teach begginers to professionals. On saxophone I empathize what I have learned from everywhere but especially Joe Allard, his methods have proved to be exceptional in getting a desirable sound and achieving technique on the saxophones. Tone and harmonics are essential for saxophone. i have been teaching in my home studio for over 10 years. Living in NY I help students prepare for NSYMA. Last year I had two students at level 5 one scored a 99 the other a 94. Read More

I'm all about bringing positive vibes into what I teach! I love music and I bring that love into everything I teach. My goal is to always make sure the student feels comfortable, feels heard, and feels prepared for anything I may throw at them. Music is a living experience and I believe as a teacher you need to bring that energy every time you teach. I make sure every student feels accomplished from everything I ask of them, I'm considerate in my instruction, and I make sure every assignment I give is feasible for the student's level. Read More

For beginning piano students, I enjoy the Faber Piano Adventures. As the student progresses, I guage what their interests/goals are, and choose repertoire according to their interests. For beginning oboe and woodwind students, I focus on a myriad of things that have nothing (and everything) to do with actual music: how to form a correct embouchure, correct hand and finger position, double and single reed care, instrument construction and maintenance, and finally, sound production. When I teach beginners, I put my faith in the Hal Leonard Standard of Excellence series for woodwinds. For Pianist, the Suzuki series is quite good, as well as A Dozen A Day and the tried and true Mikrokosmos of Bela Bartok. For more advanced players, I like to work within their preferred style, ie RB, Rock, Classical, but also find it important draw relevant material from other styles like Jazz and non-Western music.
