Assisting my peers so we could sound better via musical corrections, this would build our confidence levels and the moral throughout the ensemble. I furthered my passion for music at Berklee College of Music, where I studied various aspects, methods, and approaches to educating someone about the art of music. Read More

As previously stated, my teaching style is a proper balance of positive encouragement and personal accountability. I always keep my lessons moving forward in order to take advantage of all time allotted. Within this framework, I enjoy a casual back-and-forth with my students to keep things friendly. I am always amazed at how much I learn from my students in lessons and I believe treating them as contributors to the lesson allows them to connect personally to what they are doing. Read More

I am a nurturer. I teach with caring, passion and support of all my students. It's not just enough show students how to play a note or read a rhythm, but how to use that knowledge in everyday life. I like to build a positive working relationship with my students. This way they look forward to their lesson, not only because they are comfortable around me, but because they are growing and learning about music and it's relationship to life. Read More

There are many acceptable method books for beginning students, however, I have found that if a student gets relatively comfortable on their instrument before trying to decipher a grand staff, they seem to enjoy the learning experience more. The hardest part of teaching music, in my opinion, is the educational content that isn't in a method book. Finding someone who can play your instrument better than you can often be more inspirational than finding a new piece that is slightly out of your comfort zone or using a method book that, at the end of the day, is supposed to help a student reach the ability level of the person the student aspires to be.
