For piano students, I prefer Alfred's methods, whether the adult or for beginners. For band and orchestra, I use Essential Elements (or whatever their school is using), and supplement with Rubank's methods. Each of these methods series have multiple books that the student can progress through. For intermediate or school-aged students, I like to supplement the material they are learning in school.
