I always make sure that each lesson incorporates a mixture of technical work specific to the clarinet, scales, note and rhythm reading, basic clarinet repertoire, well known pieces, unknown pieces and sight reading. Navarro is a part of the liberation-oriented free jazz collective, Irreversible Entanglements. After their highly acclaimed self-titled debut album on International Anthem, a second album is due to be released in 2020. Navarro also has a duo project with Brooklyn-based drummer Tcheser Holmes. As a Saxophonist and Clarinetist I prescribe to the Joe Allard method of embouchure and technique that has been codified and popularized by saxophone master and pedagog, Dave Liebman, from whom I have taken countless classes. For my classical students, I like to use the Rubank method books. For more advanced students, I am a huge fan of the Rose Studies for Clarinet and the Ferling studies for Saxophone. Both of these books not only provide great etudes for technique but also are great studies in musicality, theory and interpretation. Read More

Every student approaches the instrument differently and has different needs and interests. Whoever I am teaching, I try to find some way to relate their hobby or other interest into what they need to learn. I believe the lesson sticks with the student for longer that way. I am a graduate of Long Island University: Post Campus with Bachelors of Music in Music Education with emphasis in Trombone Studies. I have maintained a small private low brass studio for the past three years and teaches students ages -12 on various instruments in multiple music schools across the island.
