I like to incorporate weekly and monthly goals into my lesson plans, and I focus on accomplishments rather than shortcomings. I often offer incentives for younger students to encourage regular practice. I provide constructive feedback after every lesson and encourage questions as I feel reciprocated communication opens opportunities for learning. I want my students to enjoy and look forward to lessons, so I adjust my teaching style based on each unique student's personality, learning style, and ability. Read More

Great music lessons are a mix of solid technique building and fun application of those skills. I always spend the first few lessons getting the student familiar with the basic technique of the instrument, and then quickly move on to duets, improvising, sight reading, solos, etc. that tie in with the current technique studies. Music can also be heard or read, so I try to strike a balance between reading music/theory and learning/improvising by ear. Read More

I first started teaching in 2019 after finishing up the college portion of my time at Temple. I am a big fan of online teaching and even coming to others' homes for lessons. As someone who is avid in getting to as many different styles of music as possible, I always try to keep my students open in learning whatever they wish to learn, on top of making sure they understand the fundamentals of their instruments and regular practice. Spike and Party Cat piano theory books is used for younger piano students. I encourage students to learn solo pieces and memorize scales so they can audition for various festivals. Read More

As a teacher, I know that every student is different and learns differently. So I determine through lessons how each student learns best and set goals that each student can attain weekly. I mark off lines that students pass in their book and give a happy face, or a kind of positive acknowledgement, when he or she passes the whole page. I am very persistent with students and will not breeze over something they really need to know. Read More
