When taking on beginner students, I typically use a blend of method books and novice musical pieces to begin to build musicianship. With intermediate musicians, I tend to seek out anything of interet to the student while incorporating harder repertoire to strengthen musicianship and to continue to peek interest in music. Then, depending on age and experience, I build a custom program for the student, which may include using various books, resources, and even materials which I have created.
