Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I have been teaching since age 15 (1999). In addition to extensive performing experience on clarinet, I have functioned as a piano accompanist, choir member, and praise band member through the years. As noted above, I teach clarinet, saxophone, flute, and piano. My methods vary according to each individual students' needs and goals, however I try to find the approach that will best help a student to appreciate music in general, sharpen the mind, and give each student a level of skill on their instrument that provides a sense of accomplishment. I started teaching privately when I was in high school. I taught just a couple of kids and found it fun. I was a little busy to teach in college as I was concentrating on learning to be a professional saxophonist. My teachers include Doug Heath, Bob Seligson, Terry Autry, and Todd Goranson. I was able to learn at a relatively high level in school and continued that through grad school. Read More

For young beginners, I make use the method book that is being used at their school as well as supplying materials specifically for their instrument. As the student progresses, he/she will be introduced to solo repertoire as well advance method books for recital and competitive purposes. The objective is keep the student challenged but at the same time making sure the lessons are enjoyable. For intermediate and advanced students, I use the school curriculum at the school they happen to attend to meet the requirements of the music program. Read More

After receiving my jazz performance degree from Rutgers University in 2010, I put together a studio of several dedicated students in New Jersey while performing in the New York Metro area with ensembles ranging from big bands to funk and soul groups. During that time, I also helped create several music education programs and camps in Red Bank and Asbury Park, and was instructed players of all skill levels, helping them improve their skills. The one thing I love teaching is watching my students grow. I believe music should be fun not boring having to practice 2 hours every day. I encourage students to to have fun during lessons and individual practice. I like to push my students to their limit. If the student is pushed to his/her limit, it will motivate them to work harder. Also, I like to ask what the student's goal is. Read More

I've taught the clarinet since my high school days, offering lessons on how to play and how to march to my fellow band members as well as others in my neighborhood and surrounding cities. I did the same in the Marines to my fellow Marines as well those in high schools near my duty station. I take the time to understand what my students want to accomplish and set short and long term goals while having fun and motivating my students to learn more. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet
For beginners, I focus on teaching proper fundamentals for embouchure, air, hand position, and articulation. I use various teaching tools such as Essential Elements or whatever book your child's school district requires. I believe teaching music literacy is very important. The goal the first year is to be able to read a majority of the notes and rhythms on their instrument while being able to play at least 7 major scales and a two octave chromatic scale. Read More
