Given the trust level that it takes, a bond is definitely formed. Each being very unique, memorable, and adventurous over all. As a private instructor I have seen several ups and downs, whether through the music they are working on or a personal problem, but it is great to see how having something that they are passionate brings this new perspective in everything they do. No matter age, background, aspirations nor gender, music is universal that could bring joy to us all no matter what side of the spectrum we are on. Read More

My name is Chris, and I have been playing trumpet for over twenty years. I grew up in the TX public schools and was a two time TMEA All-State Musician. I hold three degrees in music from accredited universities: DMA at UGA, MM at UT-Austin, BM at NDSU. I enjoy teaching and helping others, and have a patient, kind approach to working with people. With 20+ years of experience with guitar, vocals, drums, and percussion, and a stylistic reach that includes everything from jazz, blues, hip-hop, R&B, funk, and soul to classic rock, pop, singer-songwriter, Latin, reggae, world music, and beyond, I will assist you in cultivating the essential tools to take your musical journey to the next level, regardless of your age and musical background. Beginning in grade school when I started giving lessons to friends and family members, I have taught students from all walks of life; have had students that were young, old, and everything in between; and have taught both individuals who had never even touched an instrument in their lives and students who had been playing for many years. Instruments: Piano
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a method book in order to introduce finger numbers and good technique. We build more and more skills as time progresses. Depending on the student, we may depart from the method book and learn more substantial songs; I'm very good with adapting to the skill levels and strengths of each student. With older students, since they generally have a better feel for what songs/composers they like, I will give them more freedom to choose their own songs and work with them from there. Read More
Instruments: Violin Cello Viola
For beginning students,on violin, viola and cello, I work with the Essential Elements and Suzuki books (depending on the student). They offer a lot of practical information, as well as beginning music theory for all string students. For my beginning violin and viola students, I only work with them through Essential Elements book 3. At that time, I would refer them to a teacher who's primary instrument is violin. With my cello students, all levels are welcome. Read More
