One of the most important values I hope to pass on to my students is that of making each note as beautiful as possible, and having this in mind every time they pick up their instruments. I hope to teach my students to approach music with intention behind every note and to be thinking musically and creatively with every motion they make. Performers make musical decisions with every phrase. I have been playing the cello for forty years and teaching for twenty. I love helping students of all ages realize their goals of playing and performing cello music. Although I do not have an academic background in music, I have studied privately with teachers who have been members of the New York Philharmonic and Juilliard faculty. In addition to playing and performing chamber music for the past thirty years in local venues, I am also a co-founder of the American Chamber Orchestra, a community orchestra that has performed for twenty seasons and toured Europe with performances in many countries. I'm a dedicated piano, violin, and viola teacher and I enjoy teaching students of all ages! I went to Mannes College of Music and then played viola at the Spoleto Festival in Italy. In addition to teaching, I also play piano at major charities and fundraisers, including the Democratic Party Convention.
