Having the basic knowledge in music and techniques in playing are very important tools to have as a performer. I typically start with the Suzuki method for beginners and intermediates. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce a solo repertoire or other music pieces appropriate to the student’s interest. My approach to learning an instruments is to have the students learn to play by ear first before they can start learning to read music. I find that most students are able to progress quickly because it frees them to focus on the playing the instruments rather than reading notes. I've played cello and piano since childhood and recieved my Masters in Cello Performance from the University of Redlands in May of 2014. Prior to that I recieved my Bachelors in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Northern Colorado. I've also recieved a certificate in Film and Television Scoring from the UCLA Extension.
