I received my Master’s degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, studying with former LA Philharmonic Principal cellist Peter Stumpf, and my bachelor’s degree at Temple University, studying with cellist Jeffrey Solow. As a chamber musician, I have studied with Menahem Pressler, Mark Kaplan, Jorja Fleezanis, and Kurt Muroki. I usually begin by working through the Suzuki method books, and then from there try to branch out into other material depending on the student's skill. I'm always open to trying different songs and even encourage my students to find songs that they want to play. While working on different pieces, I'll also focus on techniques of holding the cello and the bow, things that I consider very important to correct and improve, especially at a young age. Read More

For younger beginners, I like to start with a method book such as Essential Elements to build the foundations of music and the instruments. After students have worked through this, we begin working on solo repertoire to get students excited to perform songs at their first recital! This is also a great time to begin learning about improvisation and creative playing, something that we all already have within us. I am a strings teacher, teaching privately for 10 years and in public schools for 7. I graduated from Elizabethtown College with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education, with a concentration in violin. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Orchestral Conducting at Messiah College. Strings students can expect to improve week to week in their technique. I teach students strong foundational techniques in order to develop their abilities.
