I am a musician, composer, and educator with backgrounds in both jazz and classical studies. I have a Bachelors of Music from New England Conservatory and a Masters of Music at Berklee College of Music's Global Jazz Institute. I am regularly performing in a wide variety of settings from jazz to avant-garde to hip hop and anything in between. For beginning students, I typically start with the Suzuki method books, because I think they lend themselves well to both kids and parents who are practicing with them. These books also come with accompaniment CDs which I find very important to learning. For adults, I like to have a conversation about what the student's goals are and what they are interested in and guide my instruction accordingly. For beginning students, I typically start with Suzuki repertories with classical cello training. I have received Suzuki training at Cleveland of the Institute of Music. I emphasize on scales and etudes which are foundations for cello playing. In addition, I will begin to introduce a solo repertoire appropriate for their first performance. While I work with all students to build a solid technical cello foundation, I want my students to play and immerse themselves in the pieces and music they love most so that they stay inspired to explore the cello. I began playing cello in elementary school and started teaching cello lessons while I was in middle school. I love to teach and share music with my students. I graduated Manhattan School of Music in 1977  and proceeded to get my Masters degree and teaching certificate.
