I have been teaching guitar as a primary occupation since 2006. I have been a professional musician (performer and songwriter) since 2001. I have taught at music studios in NJ (Dan's Music Studio, The Music Center in Chatham, Howell Music) and now teach privately in-home, at my studio, and online. I have been playing guitar since I was 7 years old and bass guitar since I was about 14. I also play drums and piano, to a lesser degree. My musical education includes college level music theory classes, many years of lessons with instructors (including an accomplished jazz guitarist), work in recording studios, plenty of self-directed instruction, and real-world playing experience. For beginning piano students, I often get them started with the Faber piano series, then incorporate music theory along with their song requests. For beginning fretted string students (guitar/bass/ukelele), I like to start with the Hal Leonard method book to get started with reading notation, so that we cover more than just tabs and chords.
