Having taught well over 300 students over the last 10 years, Jason does not subscribe to any one particular method of teaching, no matter if it's guitar, voice or bass. The pursuit of music and creativity is unique to each individual and, therefore, each individual needs to be taught differently to help them discover and maximize their own abilities.Jason is a highly accomplished musician who believes that learning to read music and understand music theory is vastly important, but doesn't use the same approach, resources, books, etc. for each student. Have been teaching for many years and know that each student has their own mindset and we need to work around each person`s goals and interests. I teach mainly pop, rock, blues, jazz, funk, RnB. I also encourage them to compose something of their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments. Read More

Having an environment of support is paramount to me in these lessons. Read More

I am very focused when teaching but I try not to bore the student with repetitive exercises, varying the material constantly, depending on the student. Some students are more focused than others and they're able to endure greater amounts of effort into a single task. In the beginning there is a kind of audition to determine wether the student will follow through a theoretical way of teaching, by using musical terminology, or a more intuitive kind, by using tablature and listening. My first ever performance was at a piano recital as a 6-year old. By the 5th grade I was performing with a genuine garage band, making our debut performance headlining at our elementary schools talent show. From that time forward I've been in countless multifarious bands and have been performing music in some form or other ever since. I have performed with and sat in for some of the finest NY metro area musicians including the late great Melvin Sparks, Scott Spray (Johnny Winter), Scott Lebish (James Brown) Gil Paris and Jeff Smith. I use what some have called the target approach. With this method you are working on one concept at a time, and you should always have one concept in mind while you practice. Some examples of beginning concepts are 1) keeping a steady beat, 2) sound quality, or 3) smooth finger technique. In one practice session using the target approach you may spend 10 minutes on target 1) and 15 minutes on target 2). What is important, however, is that you continue to work on a target every day until you find yourself performing that single concept flawlessly and effortlessly. Read More
