I make every effort to get the basics down for a student and then to keep things fresh I introduce or ask the aspiring student to start thinking or picking a few songs that they would like to learn within reason of their abilities. Often times its harder to learn without proper practice time or a student's dedicated practice time not being filled to it's potential. I emphasize practice as where the talent comes from. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Guitar for Kids and Bass for Kids methods. At the same time, I assign exercises that will help develop the students technique. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I try to find out what kind of music the student is interested in, and guide my instruction to keep the lessons interesting and engaging. Read More

My first experience teaching someone was when I was younger in my high school days, I was teaching my 7 year old nephew how to play ukulele which was an arduous task indeed. But through said trails and tribulations we managed to accomplish our goals together. Currently Im teaching guitar at the fine arts academy and I am teaching one student consistently while also substituting occasionally. One thing I have learned through teaching is that actually listening to music during practice is a big help and motivation which I like to include in sessions. Read More

My teaching style is based on motivation and fun. It is important to me that each student progresses at his or her own pace. Setting realistic goals for my students to progress and make them interested in learning more. Learning your first song it is very important that's why I let my students will choose their first song to learn. I also introduce music theory at the same time, so the students understand what they are playing. Read More

There can be as much art as to crafting the right sound coming out of your amp, as the craft of originating the notes on your fret board. I can also teach in the area of MIDI guitar. MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Information. This is an industry standard that allows for synth guitars and keyboards to communicate with each other and work together. I have one guitar system I custom built that drives three synth modules. Read More

I always teach proper technique, music reading, and eventually some music theory. If a student is just beginning, they need a method book to track their progress. I usually use Hal Leanord's guitar method. Besides this book, there should be a blank manuscript booklet for any extracurricular songs or concepts that aren't included in the book. Weekly lessons are ideal for building on the fundamentals, as any longer, the student may be memorizing bad habits or forget the proper way to play. Read More
