Overview:

Music has always been a central theme in my life. I Started playing at a young age and my enthusiasm has never diminished. I believe music is a gift and a responsibility offering many opportunities and endless joy. Over the past 20 years I've toured the country coast to coast on a journey of musical exploration, entertaining audiences, playing with and learning from some of the brightest and most talented musicians in the world. I've been privileged for all the experiences music has provided me and I feel as a musician it's my responsibility to share this gift.

EXPERIENCE

I began my musical career in high school taking on paid gigs at an early age and after graduation I had the opportunity to begin playing professionally right away. Before moving to Florida my central home for 15 years was in an arts-based community north of San Francisco where I was a member in several groups that gained significant notoriety throughout Northern California and the Greater North West. Essentially, I've sat at the hip of masters and put in my 10,000 hours of work to get to this point in life.

METHODS USED

My method is divided in two categories: Application and theory. For beginning students we work on basic motor skills for the instrument. Through simple exercises, utilizing patterns from diagrams, most students gain a proficiency at handling the instruments within weeks. During this time students are also introduced to the notes and common chords, learning their names, titles and relationships to each other on the fretboard. Once the instrument has become familiarized and the students are comfortable enough, then we'll begin introducing theory into practice. For intermediate to advanced students it's more of a process of evaluating where they are at in their understanding and capabilities then devising approaches to help futher their growth and advancement.

LESSON STYLE

I have a non-judgemental, fun and passionate attitude towards learning that has served my students well over the years. I've found that the amount of passion we have determines how likely we are to achieve learning, understanding and mastery. I've developed an experiential approach to learning that has served me well and that I encourage in all my students. I teach lessons that are designed specifically for each student's particular ability and inclinations ,encouraging them to pick subjects they're interested in. This helps keep the process of practicing engaging and fun.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
