Along with my texts, these materials offer a gateway to learning to read and play in standard, that is, staff, notation. In addition I have numerous popular songs and rock songs which I have set to tablature and standard notation. So, I would take young students through the early stages of my method, supplemented by these other materials. For students, young and adult, who have progressed beyond the fundamentals, I would make available and seek materials to follow their desired musical style(s). Read More

My main goal as a music educator is to help students discover their own spark, or passion, for music and give them a space to let that spark grow and flourish. I like to give small assignments each lesson based on their interests and goals we set together, which I believe helps motivate the student to improve and encourages them to make new musical discoveries each week. I'm dedicated to providing a creative learning environment for students that encourages experimentation, growing from mistakes, and discovering great joy through music. Read More

I first taught private lessons back in 2008 when I was around 16 years old. Since then, I have met some of my dearest friends and acquaintances through both teaching and performing. For 7 years, I was the primary Guitar instructor at Boston Harbor Scottish Fiddle School until its closing in 2019. I have been flown out to Northern California every summer for the past 3 years to teach at Alasdair Fraser's Sierra Fiddle camp, a week long Celtic music program. Read More

I'm a student currently enrolled in Berklee College Of Music who has also been making a living as professionally touring musician in a few critically acclaimed projects, and have received tons of press for my work. There is nothing I love more than playing music and spreading the knowledge I have received from my experience on the road, and in the classroom to students everywhere. I've played bass, and guitar at such venues as Webster Hall in New York City, the Royale, Sinclair, and Middle East in Boston, and more! Read More

Every student is different and has their own taste in music. I hope to help every student find the same joy in playing music as they do in their listening. This requires two important aspects: development of technique/facility on one's instrument, and a sense of acheiving one's personal musical goals. I try to give every student basic exercises to work on to develop facility on their given instrument, but I tailor those exercises towards music that the student has expressed interest in learning. With beginning students, I will start with the basics and encourage them to buy A Modern Method for Guitar by William Leavitt. Starting out, students will work on chords and scales. We will also work on building a repetoire of songs for the student to work on perform. Intermediate students will work on the fundamentals of theory, triads, beginner 7th chords, and improvasation. Advanced students will work on expanding their knowledge of theory, inversions, technique building, chord tensions and substitution. Read More
