It is incredibly rewarding to see my students develop a love of playing music. This is why I approach each individual student with a unique lesson plan to help them thrive. I focus these lessons on my students musical interests while keeping the lessons fun and interesting. I think its very important to teach my students proper practice techniques so they can continue to learn for themselves in between lessons. Read More

I am a guitar player specializing in rock, funk and jazz fusion. Born and raised in Atlanta, I moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music. I spent several years touring the country with my band Mister F, who played well over 100 shows per year. I have been invited to play with blues/soul icon Robert Randolph, smooth jazz artist Earl Klugh, bands such as Twiddle, Aqueous and Mungion, as well as members of bands including Dopapod and Kung Fu. Regardless of technical ability, we will make music during lesson 1. Younger guitar students will work through the Hal Leonard Guitar for Kids Method with me in order to establish comfortability. From there we will progress into learning songs, developing musical interests, and playing our first performance. Adult students bring their own experience and interests that will be used to guide lessons individually. String Bass students will begin with the George Vance Progressive Repertoire for the Double Bass. Read More

I started teaching two years ago at a private lesson studio in Denver called My Music Skool. My main focus was on piano and saxophone. Now I teach privately as a freelance musician. Two points I emphasize when teaching are practicing at least once a day no matter how long you play and learning what inspires you. There will always be some sort of theory I sneak in whether it's learning scales or building technical skills that will build confidence and ability, but if these devices aren't being applied to the type of music that inspires the student, then learning music becomes discouraging instead of fun. I studied classical guitar and studied with the amazing guitarist and teacher Louis Steele. I was also active in all the Jazz ensembles, choirs, and Pep Bands. After graduating I toured the Western US with the indie/soul group Hello Dollface. In my tenure in the band we released two albums, completed a Kick-starter for $10,000, and toured in every western state in the US performing in bars, theaters, private events and festivals. Everyone is different. Therefor, every student should have their own unique lesson to fit their own needs and wants as a musician and student. Learning the students interests in music is an important part of the first steps no matter how advanced they are. This will give the student and I an accurate gauge of how and what they want to learn. Every student will always need get some basics down right off the bat but if we are able to incorporate what a student enjoys then we can make the process of learning the basics much more fun and engaging. My main philosophy is that every student is different and should be treated accordingly. The methods I use are specifically tailored to each student and can be methods that I have learned or developed myself. I start students off by asking them collect ideas about their instrument and the music they enjoy. From that point, I begin to simultaneously teach technique and musicianship in relation to their expressed interests. The key to my teaching method is that I ask difficult questions and then I give the student time to think and develop an answer. Read More
