My style is one that seamlessly adapts to all ages, learning styles, and backgrounds, resulting in a high student retention rate over the years. I provide an exciting and positive environment for students to not only learn fundamentals and techniques, but also to find and express their unique musical voice. As lessons progress at the student's pace, it's important to keep discovering what they love about music and what inspires them to learn (song, artist, style, musician friend). Read More

I first like to learn a bit about each student and what their goals are on the instrument. Knowing whether or not someone as musical career goals vs. just being able to have fun playing is important! For beginners I general start with a bit of the basics - how the guitar works and how to start fretting notes and making some noise, and then begin moving towards easier or simplified versions of popular songs. With students that are full beginners, I like to start them out with some reading to show them how time is divided and how to identify notes on the staff. I've found that finding notes on the staff helps them learn the notes on the fretboard faster and easier. I use a book called Guitar Method Book 1 by Hal Leonard. For students who are more advanced, I will focus on their time feel, sound, and music theory. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding then passing your love for music on to a student. Each person learns at there own pace and skill level. With each lesson we will set small reachable and realistic goals. These goals will fit in with your larger overall goals. My teaching style is different then others as I'm able to tailor each lesson to fit your needs rather then go through a strict regiment. Teaching is a journey of discovery, growth, and mutual inspiration. My approach is centered on creating an environment where learning becomes an exciting exploration rather than a mere instruction. I view myself as a guide, nurturing the innate curiosity and talents of my students while providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to flourish in their musical pursuits. My teaching approach is characterized by fostering a personalized connection with each student, nurturing their passion for music, and building a strong foundational understanding. Read More

My teaching style is focussed very much on what the student wishes to learn. Having a set guide pf progression is necessary but not when forced upon. My style involves exploring music together, understanding the thought process behind different pieces of music and applying concepts in fun innovative ways. I have also designed many musical games that are fun and help students remember things better. With every student I put together a custom lesson plan that is designed to show yardsticks and milestones for the student in how they are moving forward with their instrument. Read More

Classes are customized per the student's individual needs. For some students, this means a standard repertoire: Schradiek, Scevcik, Hrimaly for violin. Hanon for piano. But for others, they would do better with a less formal approach. In all cases, the use of the ear is fundamental and primal. We will learn how to hear, and how to listen for timbres and intervals. (Basic interval training will be a part of everyone's lesson, as there's really no way around that.) Some students are intimidated by the classical repertoire, and the demands the classical tradition places on musicians. Read More
