My methods as a teacher begin primarily with emphasis on fundamentals, i.e Bow hand position, violin position. I emphasize the need to practice on a consistent basis. As in any walk of life, there will be little to no improvement unless you do so. I also believe in treating each student differently, however, as there are some who simply want to have fun and learn something new. I also ask them what music they would be interested in learning and see if I can find an easy version of this. I can teach through the use of books (such as the Suzuki Method, John Thompson, etc) but I am also an advocate for learning by ear, transcribing and chord charts.
