I've been teaching guitar for the past 4 years now, and I like to focus on a fun way of learning I achieve that by starting to learn songs right away no matter what level you have on guitar, we explore your favorites artists and I plan my class around that, teaching you chords progressions, scales, improvisation, how to read music, how to read tablatures, finger independence all of this keeps the class fun while learning all the information needed to be proficient with the instrument, we can go from a basic understanding of the guitar to a professional level. For all students I access what your musical background is and what may be lacking from your knowledge and playing. I also ask what your particular goals and things you would like to learn are. From there then we will start to tailor the lesson as both us see fit. In general I like a student to be able to play three simple melodies before moving on to chords, rhythms, and music theory. IF a bassist does not have a strong sense of rhythm, the ensemble will not work well, and the bassist will have a difficult time being able to play comfortably with a drummer. However if a student is a beginner, I will start him/her off comfortably playing the instrument. Eventually I will introduce music theory and scales, sight-reading music constructing walking baselines etc etc. If a student is more advanced, I will enforce the 4 T's I talked about and make sure to incorporate what he/she wishes to work on or learn. Theory I can teach music theory, harmony and reading in any level. These skills are tremendously helpful and necessary if the student is serious about music, but totally optional for the hobby musician. Audition prep I know a lot about most auditions in the country and what the academic world of music looks for. I can help you prepare for your college/ conservatory audition working on necessary skills and repertoire. Read More

With every skill comes discipline, devotion, and passion. I'll show my student the roots of drumming as well establish the influences that influenced our favorite musicians. I go over rudiments and applying them to the drum kit for all genres of music and grooves, stick control, technique, coordination/independence, drum fills, reading music and I also encourage my student play along with a tune of there choice or mine to get a feel for popular rhythms and tempos.
