I also create charts and diagrams tailored to the interests of my specific students. I teach my students how to read and write their own music. Students will learn to read music along with how to play with expression/dynamics, good voicing and articulation, use of pedal and so on. They can also work on solo pieces that would be appropriate for recital performances. For bass guitar, I would take a slightly different approachit's less focused on learning songs from a book and more about learning the layout of the instrument (parts of the bass, how to tune, etc.) and good technique with some basic music theory. For beginner students who are pursing music on the tonal instruments, I typically start with learning the names of the notes on the instrument and the major scale in every key as it relates to the piano. For the bass guitar I start of with basic finger strength techniques and exercises while incorporating the major scale fingering form and Nashville numbering system for all tonal instruments. For voice, I start off by finding the range of the individual and then teaching warmup techniques while building the individuals technique through finding a song and learning how to sing along.  Read More

I have been teaching since High School, but it wasn't until my first year of college that I started teaching music. After 6+ years of teaching in my home studios in both Austin and San Antonio, I enjoy a variety of students learning violin, viola, cello, piano, guitar, and even certain music software.
