I started my teaching carreer in 1994, teaching doublebass and bass guitar. Two years later I began offering guitar lessons. In 1998 I offered cello lessons. My passion for teaching has grown over the years, and brought me great pleasure helping beginner students gain skills, confidence, and a sense of pride and accomplishment in learning to successfully play a musical instrument. I been able to teac advanced bass students techniques that increased their playing skills and understanding of their instrument and music in general. My greatest pleasure was helping a young, nervous, shy, and self conscious young boy, and over time, with his efforts and my guidance, was able to apply and get accepted into music college. Teaching guitar and bass began for me around the same time I stared gigging seriously. People who were at the show or even people in other bands would come up and ask if I gave lessons. I developed a lesson plan and began teaching. I have taught both beginners and advanced players but most of my students have been just starting out. I started teaching guitar lessons in 1999 (20 years this year!) Since those days I've gotten two degrees and taught at colleges, and private institutions, as well as high school and middle schools. I've found that combining textbook music instruction along with learning to play some of the music the student is listening to keeps them growing and engaged.
