I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. Each lesson is personalized to the students needs. Their level,age and abilities, type of style that they are interested in learning, as well as how much practicing that they can commit to a week. I teach my students songs that they want to learn, but at the same time I explain the music theory that goes with it. I teach finger and coordination exercises to help with technique. For beginners, I always start with technique. The bass guitar is a very physically demanding instrument and without the proper technique, students can injure themselves and prevent musical expression. After fundamental hand technique is in place, I use a hybrid curriculum that my teacher walked me through mixed with my own theories that have worked for me and from the Musicians Institute basic theory book.
