For beginner students, I will teach them the fundamentals of music theory followed by chords every player should know. During this time, students will learn how to handle, maintain, and tune their instrument as well as play both finger-style and with a plectrum (pick) depending on the song. Beginner students will also learn to master their strumming technique as well as cleanly transition between chords in a song and play them in its entirety with the right rhythm. Read More

I have had the honor of studying with many great teachers, and also I'm a graduate of Berklee College of Music. I am able to use many resources and teaching material from many of the great teachers I have studied with. Being a Berklee graduate I use a lot of their teaching materials, from the Harmony 1- 4 books plus the arranging books, and many exercises to build up your technique and harmony knowledge so you can compose your own bass lines to any style. I have an advanced level of experience in the following, Jazz, Chord Melody, Blues, Melodic Soloing, Harmony and Chord Theory, Ear Training, Fret Board understanding, and Songwriting. Most of this was honed while attending Musicians Institute. I was teaching on the side, but most of my time was spent writing, getting on stage, and growing within the industry. And that continues today. Today my living is built from teaching and working as a performing singer-songwriter throughout the city. Read More

Though he had difficulty in a classroom setting, this students general reading and musical skills blossomed over the course of several years of instruction. Through patience and a customized approach I was able to reach him in ways that, according to his parents, no other teacher was able to do. Read More

Setting realistic goals is definitely a good place to start. Also, I encourage transcribing music in small sections, and to always start slow and take deep breaths, as this will reduce the student's normal anxiety and has done wonders in my own playing as well. Using a rhythm reference like a metronome or a drum loop while practicing is also a must, at it helps develop the student's groove. Internalizing music by developing the student's ear is also a very important part of my teaching style as Is applicable in any genre (hear it before you play it!) Read More
