I started giving Music lessons 20 years ago. I began giving private lessons and group lessons part time in the afternoons after I finish school in the mornings. Young students come to me asking me for lessons after a Gig or performance. I found very interesting and exiting to see the progress of the students with my own personal methods. We follow a process with disciple but we also have fun and we go to the direction that the student feels more attracted. Read More

As stated in my bio my teaching experience especially given my age is extremely extensive. I started teaching saxophone at the age of 14 as a volunteer in the Songcatchers program in New Rochelle, a service that provided free private lessons to children who couldn't afford them. That progressed to teaching privately and in small groups as an upperclassman in high school for my band teacher and for extra money on the side. Read More

Because of the nature of the bass in musical settings, my approach to teaching is one I consider "wholistic". That means that in conjunction with developing fundamental technique and building repertoire etc., lessons will involve listening to songs and discusing elements such as groove and instrumental tone. I believe that the study of music should be fun. Because of this, I like to get a feel of what music my students enjoy no matter the age or skill level, that way I can custom fit the material of an individual's lesson to get the best results. Fun!, Fun!, Fun!.. Methodically working on what works,,, right hand development. Repetition, and uncovering blocks to learning.. Learning simple songs that take s a few days at most to master, in turn, creates confidence. Music Theory and ear training are in the later stages of education, as i feel one of the most important steps is to learn "by rote". Repetition, and timing are the two most important aspects of playing any musical instrument. Read More

In my experience as a teacher, I have worked on a personal level with my students encouraging regular practice. It's important to get to know the student and keep track of their evolution. I notice that the students who advance the most are the ones who experience playing with other people. Possibly one of the best ways to learn music is being in a band. I encourage my students to have projects like this because it helps them understand quickly what music is all about. Read More
