Instruments: Voice
I'm a young musician, and I have a strong believe in the importance of all forms of artistic expression. Above all, I understand that music, of all art forms, is integral to social and personal development. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a BA in music in vocal performance in 2013, and in 2012, I had the amazing experience of studying under the renowned soprano, Delia Surratt, in Rome. In school, I also completed a theatre minor and was the musical director of my a cappella group, so I am familiar with many styles of singing. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Violin Viola Music Keyboard
Every student progresses at their own pace. So many factors will determine progress such as age, experience, instrument, and learning style. I do what is necessary to adapt to these different things to ensure my students are learning what is necessary, progressing, and still having fun all at the same time! I also ensure to incorporate music theory as part of my course as well so students are as well-rounded as possible. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
For beginning piano students, I typically have them start with the Alfred series. Depending on their growth, we can move onto solo repertoire shortly thereafter. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Violin Viola
For piano I use the Alfred series, and for violin and viola I use a combination of Essential Elements and Suzuki books. As students advance I introduce additional solo repertoire. My voice students learn from a variety of sources. I usually start with a song they know well and work from there. Students also learn a variety of warm-ups and sight-singing techniques. Read More

For Vocalists, the very foundation of proper singing will be taught: Posture, Breath Management, Muscle/Core Control, and Vowel Placement. These are the basics of good singing, in any genre. I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. But don't worry! I wont get overtly technical. I manage to teach the basics without you trying to multitask 100 different muscle groups while singing. Read More
Instruments: Voice
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More
Instruments: Voice
Generally, I like to discuss what kind of music the students are interested in studying first. Then, after vocalizing and assessing the voice, I'll start the students with English art songs or 24 Italian Songs Arias, or some classic music theater repertoire. From there, the student and I will assess what best fits the student's interest. Read More
