I am a recent graduate from Dickinson College with a BA in Music- Vocal Performance and Anthropology. Some of my recent major performance experiences include two solo recitals, including one featuring works of all women composers; Natalie in Next to Normal; and Frasquita in Carmen. I have interned in Florence, Italy with St. Mark's Opera, which is where I made my opera debut in Carmen. I am a passionate performer and excited teaching artist located in the Baltimore area. All students are different and therefore will require different methods of teaching. I plan on assessing and observing each student to see what method will work best for them. I learned the Kodaly method in school and plan on using that method for my students. As far as technique and other aspects of my teaching, I will decide that specifically once I meet my student and have an idea of how they can learn best! Read More

Auditions, and performing in general, are challenging not only physically, but also psychologically. I work with students on developing habits of mindfulness, or being aware of one’s presence in a moment, which can help alleviate performance anxiety and lead to a more thoughtful and inspired performance. By providing students with the tools to overcome psychological barriers, I believe students are better able to find their voice. Hello! My name is Donovan, and I am an instructor who specializes in ear training and technique. Originally being a self-taught musician, I began with piano and harmonica, then eventually branched out to guitar, bass, banjo, among several others.
