If they prefer classical repertoire, we work through various art songs in Italian, German, French and English, focusing on technique and diction. If they prefer musical theatre, we have fun with the acting side of it, while learning good technique. I can teach any skill level. If you are beginning with zero experience, the first thing I teach is middle C. It's the center of the universe as far as the piano is concerned. I also teach 'spider position', which is how the student wants to have their hands positioned. Intermediate students can dictate to me what they want to work on. A typical lesson starts out with a greeting and catch up on the students week, then we get into some kind of technique exercise, scales, and arpeggios. Then we move onto a fun musical piece.
