Since 2006, I have been consistantly teaching students in my home studio as well as in several music schools. I taught novices as well as professional actors. Every week I like to challenge my singers to expand their musical horizons. Whether its by showing them a new genre or introducing acting through song, I want my students to be more than just singers. I want them to be PERFORMERS! I focus on ear training and vocal health when first starting with a new student, making sure they have the fundamentals for a long lasting career. My teaching style really depends on the student taking the lessons. It's important to set realistic goals each week for students that way they can progress at his or her own pace. Recognizing accomplishments goes a long way to fuel a student's desire to progress and makes the student coming back to learn more. My favorite piano method book for children is the Bastien Piano Basics Series. Alternately, I sometimes use the Faber & Faber Piano Adventures. For very young children (3-6) "My First Piano Adventure," a Faber publication, is my book of choice. For adults, I usually use Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course, though sometimes I skip method books and play pieces picked by the student.
