Seems I've always been a teacher, even when I didn't realize it; from my school days as first chair helping other students, through college where I taught for the Southern Nevada School of Music and at Vesleys Music Conservatory, through the time I received my first certified public school teaching position and after that as a business owner with employees, I have been teaching and learning. For beginning piano students I typically use the Alfred Method. Once the student demonstrates a grasp of the fundamentals I introduce solo repertoire. For adults I typically use the John Thompson Adult Piano Course and we work together to find the solo repertoire. For voice lessons, I typically teach the bel canto style. I will work with vocalises that help develop breath control, placement and open vowels. I base my teaching methods on the student I am teaching. For students that are children at a beginner level, I typically begin with the essential elements of creating vocal foundation which I draw from many sources. Once we have set a good foundation, we tend to begin working on repertoire that is appropriate for the level at which they are singing, using those songs as learning opportunities. For adults, I begin by asking about the goals of the individual student and I then formulate a strategy to help the student reach their specific singing goals. Read More

I do, however, encourage all my students not to sell themselves short and set high standards for themselves. I've taught in New York City, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma since 2009. In New York City, I teach theatre technique at a musical theatre school. In Los Angeles, I teach Alba Technique at an Actor's Workshop. In Oklahoma, working with children, I've taught ages 6-adult, directing musical and theatrical productions like Grease, Les Miserables, Much Ado About Nothing, and The War of the Worlds.
