Students often leave not only with improved technique, but with a renewed sense of confidence and self-trust. Creating that kind of transformation is at the core of my work. For me, teaching is more than instruction—it is facilitation, mentorship, and the creation of a space where individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered. My goal is to help every student develop a voice they can rely on, both in performance and in life. Read More

I always start with a strong Classical Foundation, and also specialize in Musical Theatre and Contemporary Styles. Some students love classical music, and we work on Italian arias...while others love 80s Metal Bands, and we work on healthy ways to approach contemporary music. For Musical Theatre, I make sure my students have a wide range of genres at the ready, so they are equally prepared to audition for both My Fair Lady or Hamilton. Read More

My teaching experience began at the University of Tulsa. I taught voice to a few students who were non music majors for about a year. After graduating from the University of Tulsa, I began teaching at Brook Fine Arts Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I taught over 30 students a week in both voice and piano (ages 3 to 20) for over a year. In my work as a teacher, I have helped students prepare for school competitions, studio recitals, talent shows, solo and ensemble contest, and musical auditions. Read More

The classical repertoire will reinforce the technique and specific lessons covered. The other pieces should also reinforce specific concepts and skills, but should be music the student enjoys. I strive to keep the lessons and the practice time engaging and rewarding. I cannot stress enough that music is a talent, and just as importantly a skill that anyone can develop. Like anything worthwhile that will last a lifetime, it is not developed over night. Read More

Music is a language! I teach music in a similar manner as we learn to speak. We learn to speak through trial and error having no wrong words and music should be taught in a similar fashion, where there are no wrong notes. We learn our speaking style, manner and/or accents by what we hear and this concept also applies to music; therefore listening is a crucial part for advancement and the pleasure of learning. My favorite thing about teaching is getting to discover how others learn. The approach I use for one student will not always work for another. I think every person has a unique learning style and I love to develop new ways to teach concepts to my students. I work to encourage my students to be an active participant in setting and achieving goals in our work together, while maintaining a fun, positive atmosphere. Read More

My teaching style focuses on a combination of vocal excercises and repertoire designed to enforce the techniques that I am teaching you. I also will have you bring in any repertoire you would like to sing. Understand that I am here to teach you how to sing the repertoire you want to perform, and I won’t try to make you a classical singer unless you want to be one.???? Read More
